Pillars & Tongues Tour On Home Stretch
Pillars and Tongues live at Annie St. Arts Collective in Austin 9/10 (photo by Dan Grissom)
After a rad show in San Francisco Pillars and Tongues are now on the home stretch of their western states tour in support of their new LP, Lay of Pilgrim Park.

Some praise from the road:
“Using layers of harmonized vocals and accompanying them with little more than a violin or a double bass—if anything at all—Pillars & Tongues approaches Americana and gospel with a style that’s both hauntingly simplistic and ambitiously complex.”

THIS
IS HAPPENING HERE:
If you are anywhere in or near California this weekend (9/25) then we recommend that you take a trip to the Sierra foothills to take part in the
INVISIBLE OCEAN FESTIVAL, that our friend Eli has risen. It is a true community event with many performers including: Daniel Higgs, Ruthann Friedman, Beat Beat Whisper, Mariee Sioux, Helene Renaut, Moore Brothers, Soft Shells, Jeff Manson… AND, it is just a hop skip and a jump from the renewing Yuba River (photo by
Daren Wilson). Purchase your tickets – which include camping and dinner – and learn more

New in store: Sword And Sandals / Vholtz / Woman’s Worth / Ettrick, Cassette
Brought to you by Two Thousand Tapes and ZUM: This tape was an attempt to document the bourgeoning 2006/2007 skronk-punk scene in the Bay Area. The material from all four bands (Ettrick / Sword + Sandals / Vholtz / Woman’s Worth) came from recorded live sets in mid-2007. It took over two and a half years for this to finally come out. Includes a brilliant 5 color 18 panel (10 1/2″ x 15″) fold out poster by Paul Morgan. On pro-duplicated printed cassettes
Sword and Sandals – John Dwyer, Randy Lee Sutherland, Shaun O’Dell
Vholtz – Randy Lee Sutherland, Matthew Grothman, George Chen, Paul Morgan
Woman’s Worth – Wilson Drozdowski, Matthew Grothman, Paul Morgan
Ettrick – Jacob Heule, Jay Korber

Also, check out what Kimberly Chun at the San Francisco Bay Guardian said about their latest EP, Duck, Duck, Goose! out now on Empty Cellar Records.
“Produced by the Fresh and Onlys’ Wymond Miles, the new Sandwitches EP, Duck, Duck, Goose! (Empty Cellar/Secret Seven) plunges even deeper into the shadows, tackling “Baby Mine,” Fresh and Onlys’ honcho Tim Cohen’s “Rock of Gibraltar,” and other eerie lullabies with confidence and tangible vision.”
